By cupid’s diaper! It’s a brand new cover for a brand new book! This time Andreas and I wanted to do something a little different. I grew up reading fantasy novels, which means covers that are usually a scene right out of the story. Romance is a different genre and often there aren’t specific scenes well-suited to becoming a cover. Er, aside from the naughty ones. Not wanting to go there, we decided the art should express the heart of the story. And here it is, two guys against a pink backdrop like a giant valentine—one of them looking up in admiration, the other slightly down with angst. I love angst! The right-hand side of the image below is all most people will see, since shopping for books these days means squinting at little front cover thumbnails. But for us here and those that buy paperback, the horizon can be seen unfolding behind the two guys, the possibilities endless. That’s certainly how love can feel—or there might be more to it than that. You’ll have to read Kamikaze Boys to find out. For now, let us know what you think of the cover. Nothing is set in stone yet, so if there are any changes you’d like to see, let us know!
Kamikaze Boys is set for release in late February/early March.

Hi there! I'm Jay Bell and I like making up stories! I'm the guy who wrote

Yay new book! Cover looks great! As for suggestions since you asked: Why not put the mentioned scar on the character that it’s intended for in the cover art? Also, the guy with the green pants and purple shirt (and this is only from working clothing retail for so long ‘yay stereotype’) seems like he needs some kind of hat – like a beanie or something? I’m sure you have reasoning behind your madness but that’s my suggestion!
Can’t wait to read it!
Hey, Eric! Thanks for the suggestions. The scar can be seen on the character to the right. It’s a diagonal line across the neck, but it’s pretty subtle. I may have Andreas strengthen it. I suppose he could use a hat too, but only because his hair is a little unruly. We’ll play with that as well.
Don’t get me wrong though, it’s definitely still a great cover!
Great cover, Jay! Your covers are always so beautiful. I look forward to reading your new novel.
Very kind of you, Nathan! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the book once it’s out. Not long now…
New book! I will definitely buy it when it comes out.
Thanks, Eric! Not long now until it comes out!
I absolutely love the cover. And, I love that it is pink. It is not something really seen. It stands out quite a bit. Andreas has outdone himself
Glad you like it! I wasn’t sure about pink when Andreas first suggested it, but I kept my doubts a secret. I’m glad I did, because like you, I think it turned out great.
I’m HUGE fan of Andreas’ covers because they’re beautiful and really stand out between all the usual naked torsos (although I must confess I’ve made a couple of those myself) and this one is no exception.
Can’t wait to read the book. I come to your site every couple of days, hoping to find some news about it.
Thank you so much, Enny! I read your comment to Andreas and it made him smile. As for Kamikaze Boys being released, we’re nearly there. Hold tight!
I’m so excited! I’m always looking from new books from you! The cover looks great
Thanks, Matthew! That’s very kind of you!
As usual Andreas did a spectacular job with the cover art. Reward him appropriately.
The book cover says “Kamakaze boys is a story about breaking the chains that bind you and using them to beat the hell out of anyone that gets in your way. Better yet, it’s about holding hands with the guy you love while doing so.”
Holding hands? That’s great but when two guys love each other they often practice methods of stimulation that, while not diminishing the comfort of handholding, arouse a goodly amount of intense pleasurable sensations frequently culminating in an explosion of ecstasy enveloping mind and body.
As a gay man I think this a wondrous aspect of a loving, wholesome, exclusive male relationship so I hope you gave readers ample demonstrations of holding hands put some hot sex with lots of cock and ass action too. Anything less would be unnatural.
By the way you’re an outstandingly brilliant genius in this world of ho-hum gay male romance novels. Those who have not yet read Something Like Summer, Language Lessons, and The Cat In The Cradle are depriving themselves of the glorious enjoyment to be found in these phenomenal stories.
Sometimes I feel like there’s so much sex in this genre that something like holding hands is completely risque and fresher than sexy time… but to be honest, there’s much more than the intertwining of fingers in this book.
I’m honored you enjoyed my other novels, Lucas. I hope this one pleases you just as much!
