Our ten year wedding anniversary!

Published on September 27, 2013 by in Gay, Holiday

Big Gay Wedding Day, Jay Bell and Andreas BellAndreas and I were living in sin for three glorious years. He was a college boy with the body of a Greek god, and I was… uh… me. For reasons still unexplained, he said yes when I popped the question. That was ten years ago. Ten years! A decade! I’d say it felt like yesterday, but that would be trite and not at all honest. But still, it only feels like five and a half years. Maybe six. So anyway, to commemorate the luckiest event of my life, I made a video. It tells our story, gives you a glimpse of our wedding, and features nine billion photos of us. Putting this video together, that really drove home our history and reminded me of how much we’ve been through. Time flies when you’re married to a guy like Andreas. Relationships are a lot of work, but he makes it so damn easy. And I love him. I love him, I love him, I love him! *sigh* Okay. Enjoy the video!

Congrats on your 10th. After having been in a committed relationship for 34 years I absolutely and completely agree. It only gets better, even with an ocaisional bump along the way. I came out when being gay was still considered a mental disorder (and a criminal act). After having seen the changes over the last 40+ years I believe that as a community, we’re definitely on the right path. We live in a state where gay marriage is not yet legal. We have no rights at all. Not even after 34 years together. Perhaps we will live long enough to see that change. One can only hope and fight for equality.
I recently discovered your “seasons” anthology” and I have to say I find it inspiring and quite compelling. You most definitely have the talent and inspiration. If only your books could find a wider audience, I’m sure that they would help not only more gays to come out but might help to bridge the gap (chasm) between gay and straight people.
Our best wishes for continued success in both your career and relationship!

    Hello there!

Congratulations on the anniversary. I’m a big fan of your work, especially Something Like Autumn. The whole “Something Like…” series was really just amazing. Any plans for a “Something Like Spring”?
